Variation in RARG Increases Susceptibility to Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity in Patient Specific Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes

Induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) from individuals who experienced doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) showed significantly greater sensitivity to doxorubicin compared to iPSC-CMs from doxorubicin-treated individuals who did not develop DIC in cell viability and optical mapping experiments.

Moving Pieces in a Cellular Puzzle: A Cryptic Peptide from the Scorpion Toxin Ts14 Activates AKT and ERK Signaling and Decreases Cardiac Myocyte Contractility via Dephosphorylation of Phospholamban

The authors showed that KPP regulated cardiomyocyte proteins associated with, but not limited to, apoptosis, muscle contraction, protein turnover, and the respiratory chain.

Abscisic Acid Enriched Fig Extract Promotes Insulin Sensitivity by Decreasing Systemic Inflammation and Activating LANCL2 in Skeletal Muscle

Abscisic acid (ABA) increased expression of important glycogen synthase, glucose, fatty acid and mitochondrial metabolism genes and increased direct measures of fatty acid oxidation, glucose oxidation and metabolic flexibility in soleus muscle cells from ABA-treated mice with diet-induced obesity.

HDAC1-Mediated Deacetylation of LSD1 Regulates Vascular Calcification by Promoting Autophagy in Chronic Renal Failure

Researchers established the adenine-induced chronic renal failure (CRF) rat model and in vitro vascular calcification (VC) models based on vascular smooth muscle cells to examine histone deacetylase/lysine demethylase 1A/SESN2 as a novel molecular pathway in CRF-induced VC.
